FAQ's
Do you give free estimates?
Yes. I provide a comprehensive over-the-phone estimate based on questions that I ask during a 5-10 minute interview (questions on questionnaire page).
Then, if necessary, we can make an appointment to come to your home for a free written carpet audit for your review.
Do you guarantee your work?
Yes. I guarantee that:
My carpeting came with ScotchGard. Should I have it applied again?
Carpet treated with ScotchGard will stay clean up to two to three times longer than similar untreated carpeting. ScotchGard is formulated to withstand traffic, vacuuming, and proper cleaning. however, you should re-apply ScotchGard every 18-24 months to replenish the topical layers that have been worn away. As a matter of fact, I'll even give you a certificate of authenticity with your receipt!
What do I have to do to get ready?
Unless other arrangements are made, we expect for you to have some preparatory work done before we arrive. Knick-knacks and decorative pieces need to be moved out of the area. End tables and coffee tables need to be cleared of lamps and other awkward / breakable items. The carpet should also be vacuumed before we arrive. It will also be great if you a space available for my van in your driveway or infront of your home.
What should I do about my pets
Arrangements should be made to keep your pets off the area being cleaned until the carpeting is dry!
Do you move furniture?
Yes. As a rule, unless other arrangements have been made, we move light furnishings; end / coffee tables, armchairs, loveseats, some sofas, some beds, some dining room tables, … etc. We generally don’t move televisions / china cabinets, computer stands, office furniture, entertainment centers, … etc. Otherwise, the rule of thumb is that if it’s going to break, break your heart, or my back or my bank account, then we are not going to move it!
What kind of equipment do you use?
My Truck-Mount/ aka, "My first mortgage"
Sorry, I have to Brag
I use the benchmark of all truck-mounted machines. My Prochem Performer 405 has been the bull of the woods for quite some time. Other manufacturers have been trying to develop a machine that can compete with the Prochem units. They’ve tried to use larger motors, larger vacuums, larger pumps, or combinations of all three. They promise this and that, but their machines just don’t compare. The parts and construction of the Prochems are far superior to the other brands. The Prochems run with fewer breakdowns for years longer than the competition; all in all it's the one most cleaners would buy, if they could afford the payments! Now, Prochem has evolved a new technology, a new generation has been born. I'll wait for it to grow a couple of years; no need to raise overhead unnecessarily; my 405 has just been broken in!
Accessories and other equipment
We have a variety of accessories that run off the truck-mount. Different carpet extraction tools, a rotary extraction machine, hard surface tools, flood tools, and duct cleaning equipment that all run off of the truck-mount. For jobs that we cannot use the truck-mount, we have several high-pressure portable units meant for different applications.
Can you get ? out of carpeting?
With proper pre-treatments and conditioning, most spots come right out of the carpeting, but not all stains can be removed from carpeting. Call me with specific details and I'll be glad to tell you what can be done.
What kind of chemicals do you use?
We use environmentally safe and friendly products whenever we provide normal cleaning services. However, there are situations where we must use some “not so friendly” products that are safe, when used properly, to treat curtain stains and for floods. Don’t worry, I’ll tell you about these products, if I’ll be using them in your home or office! We even have a line of hypoallergenic products for people with hypersensitivities!
Why should I service my air ducts?
The average two-bedroom house can accumulate up to 40 lbs. of dust per year, prior to vacuuming. Dirt and dust cause over 75% of system failures. 50% of illnesses can be transmitted or aggravated by polluted indoor air, which can also cause / aggravate headaches, allergies, asthma, and bronchitis to name a few.
Do you guarantee that there will be no mold?
NO, NOBODY CAN. Mold spores are present everywhere and under the right conditions they become active. As time passes, it may amount to nothing or it may become a serious problem! Mold abatement contractors only strive to bring the spore count down to a level consistent with other non-affected areas. We are not a mold abatement firm! If there is any concern on behalf of the owner / property management or My Carpet Cleaning Service of a mold problem, an industrial hygienist should be contacted by the owner/ property management and consulted with for inspection and testing.
Again, we are not a mold remediation firm! We deal with wet environments caused from broken pipes, condenser leaks, seepage, back-ups and such! Our job is to remove as much water as possible and then dry out the carpeting / structure, prevent the spread of bio-contaminants and prevent the growth of mold. We don’t have the necessary credentials, expertise, insurance, and training to perform mold abatement. If there is a problem, then the hygienist will set the scope and protocol. You will need to find a mold remediation contractor to finish out the work. Afterwards, the hygienist will retest and certify the results!
